A1’s Climate Transition Plan: Our Path to Net-Zero
At A1 Group, we recognize our role as a leading telecommunications company in tackling climate change. Our Climate Transition Plan lays out how we’re working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our operations and value chain, and how we’re moving towards Net-Zero.
We’ve set ambitious, science-based targets, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2024. By 2030, we aim to cut our operational emissions (Scope 1 and 2 market based) by at least 90% compared to 2019. We also plan to reduce key Scope 3 emissions (purchased goods & services, capital goods, fuel- and energy-related activities and Use of sold products) by 60% over the same period. Our long-term goal is to reach Net-Zero across our entire value chain by 2040.
To get there, we’re making targeted changes in how we operate. These include expanding our use of renewable energy (both on-site production and external sourcing), modernizing our networks and infrastructure for better energy efficiency, upgrading cooling and heating systems, and switching to low-emission vehicles. From 2019 until 2024, we have managed to reduce our total Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 35%.
The Climate Transition Plan is approved by the A1 Group Management Board and acknowledged by the Supervisory Board. Furthermore, the Climate Transition Plan execution is integrated in the incentives schemes of the local and Group Management.
Ultimately, this plan is not just about compliance, it’s about making our operations more sustainable and future-proof. We’re focused on real action, measurable impact, and staying on track toward our 1.5°C-aligned targets.
